We will have a retirement celebration at Bob's Burgers from 4-6 pm. We invite everyone to stop by and say hi and provide him a card of thanks and appreciation. The election will be certified on February 21. Comments (-1) New Zaepfel Scoreboard Has Received Permitting from the City of Yakima! With full funding from Gesa Credit Union, the Yakima community plus visitors to Zaepfel Stadium at 40th Ave and Tieton Drive will soon see a new scoreboard. The City of Yakima and the Yakima School District have been productively engaged in cooperative work to advance the installation of the new display. The City of Yakima officially issued the permit to the Yakima School District today (2-7-20). The next steps include sign production by Daktronics and sign installation. An installation schedule is not yet available but YSD is hopeful it can take place over the summer of 2020. The existing scoreboard, although renovated by Pepsi throughout the years, has been in place since 1969. The new sign is larger in size, more modern in presentation, and includes video playback. The technology included with the new sign provides opportunities for classroom learning in video production for students at Davis and Eisenhower High Schools and Stanton Academy. Check out the extreme weather guidelines page on our website for some important information in keeping children safe. https://www.yakimaschools.org/Page/1758 Comments (-1) YSD Stories Stanton High School students build carts for BALIKI, BALIGRA and PANDEMONIUM Steel Band Posted by Hector Mendez on 2/7/2020 Mr. Dale Mapes, CTE teacher at Stanton Academy, and several of his students have created rolling carts to transport the steel drums used by Barge-Lincoln's BALIKI, BALIGRA and PANDEMONIUM students. For the past seven years, Ms. Marie Webb, music teacher at B-L, has depended on volunters to transport the steel drums to and from Barge-Lincoln. Due to a partnership between Stanton Academy and Barge-Lincoln Elementary, students in Mr. Mapes CTE class have built over 12 wooden carts to transport the steel drums. Posted by Tori Brennan on 1/28/2020 Beginning on Tuesday, January 28th at Barge-Lincoln Elementary School, fifteen bright-eyed transitional kindergarten students began their Yakima School District education journey! Both the kinderkids and parents were elated and full of smilings walking into their new classroom that the teacher, Laura Rodriguez, has decorated and created for them. The Barge-Lincoln community of learners welcomes these new families and students! The CWU Color Guard and US Army helicopter pilots were on hand to help. The students at our school celebrated all 5 branches of the military and thanked active duty and past duty veterans for their service.
